Who is entitled to a free summer holiday ticket?

  • The ticket is valid for those aged 7 to 19, as well as those who turn 20 during the ticket's validity period.
  • Youths who are registered in Uppsala County will receive a letter with a personal voucher code that can be redeemed in the UL app.
  • The letter will be sent out from 5 May.
  • Youths who live in Uppsala County but do not have a registration address, for example asylum seekers, are also entitled to a free summer holiday ticket but will not receive a letter in the mail. This also applies to those who have protected or confidential personal data. Contact UL Customer service from 11 May to get the ticket.
  • Youths who are registered outside Uppsala County are not offered a free summer holiday ticket from UL, but are welcome to buy a ticket from the regular ticket assortment. Read more about our different youth tickets here.

When and where can I use the ticket?

  • The ticket is valid from 1 June 2026 to 31 August 2026, around the clock.
  • The ticket is valid for travel in the UL area with City buses, Regional buses, Mälartåg on the Uppsala-Sala, Uppsala-Gävle and Uppsala-Arlanda/Märsta routes, as well as the SL shuttle on the Uppsala-Knivsta-Arlanda route. • The person using the ticket is responsible for having the ticket available throughout the journey, and must be able to show it upon request by traffic personnel. Remember to keep the phone battery charged if the ticket is in the UL app.
  • Full terms and conditions can be found in UL's general terms and conditions

Can I get the ticket on a UL card?

  • It will be possible to exchange the voucher code and receive the summer holiday ticket on a UL card instead.
  • An exchange form will be available here from 11 May.

How do I activate the ticket?

  • Log in/create an account in the UL app before you redeem the voucher code. If you reinstall the app or change devices whilst your summer ticket is active, you need to log on to the UL app again to access your ticket.
  • Make sure that the correct phone number is registered in the app, under More - Settings - User settings. The ticket cannot be transferred or sent to another number or app user.
  • The voucher code can only be redeemed once.
  • When the voucher code has been redeemed, you will find the ticket under the Ticket tab, and it will automatically start on 1 June.

What if I lose the ticket?

  • Log in/create an account in the UL app before you redeem the voucher code. If you reinstall the app or change devices whilst your summer ticket is active, you need to log on to the UL app again to access your ticket.
  • If you have the summer holiday ticket on a UL card, you must register the UL card at ul.se to be able to get a new card if you lose it. The card must be registered before it disappears, it cannot be registered afterwards. Should the registered card disappear, report it at ul.se, and we will send you a new card with a summer holiday ticket. It costs nothing to get a new card, but you must pay for the trips you need to make while you wait for the new card. Here is a link to the page where you can register your UL card.
